I just strung up this Adi Spruce and Claro Walnut 00 guitar. It is an X braced guitar that I made for a nephew (actually on commission from his wife for their anniversary). It sounds good for this early. I will let it set for a day or 2 and do the final setup. The rosette, headstock veneer, tail wedge and heel cap are amboyna burl. The bindings are Australian Blackwood. I purchased the walnut from the classifieds on this site.

John:
Did you torrify the wood yourself and what was your process?
I love the way you did the walnut back.

Sweet looking guitar, John. That's one of my favorite sizes/configurations. I agree that the way you joined the back is beautiful work and that amboyna really pops. Your nephew is a lucky man.

Bob I purchased the top from John Hall. I am not sure what the process was. I thought this guitar was a good opportunity to try it out. I had not problems working with the torrified wood. Its stiffness vs density was on the good side of an Adi top. I am interested in hearing how it sounds over the next week as it gets broken in.

Love the woods. You got that "Traditional " vibe down pat with a modern feel. Nice work John.

Is that sapwood creeping into the scene in the head stock? I'm picturing the crow is watching the night from an old Live Oak tree with Spanish moss draping down on a steamy night in Savanna or something like that :D

Nice work! Where do you mount a vise on your workbench? Corner or side pocket?

Thanks all for the kind comments. The head stock with sap came from a block of amboyna burl that I resawed.

Very tasty looking guitar. I'm sure the owner will love it (unless they're crazy)
