Looked at the reviews, beechwood clamps made in china, there were negative/legit complaints abt the 8in clamp.Otherwise, I will stick with Klemsia or dubuque clamps from maple.Too risky to buy , but the price is right. |

Mike Sorry your browser can't handle the TinyURL - it is a way to get a shorter URL to reduce the chance of it it breaking in the middle. I have used this free service for about 6-8 years now and have never heard a complaint of any sort about them until yours. Just use the very long, "non-junk" version and you will be good to go. I can't find where any revenue is transferred other than the couple of innocuous ads for Nieman Marcus and the Ellen how - let me know what you mean. Find them at tinyurl.com ernie and itswedensday I have made about 24 of these clamps in 3 different jaw configurations, 2 bar sections, and many lengths- a couple at 24" long with 4" deep jaws are great for reaching the length of a guitar body. unfortunately they were all made for my daughter's repair shop, and the 4 I made for myself were from left over wood and the jaws are not so tall and they flex under pressure. https://www.flickr.com/photos/ruby1638/11143067386/in/album-72157638227649784/ Buying maple shorts and aluminum bar add up to about $5 each, so the price was right. I agree with you Ed great price --- If I needed some I would certainly buy a batch. Craftspersons have to be careful not to devalue their time too much -- economy of effort if you will, If one's life style and finances are such that you really enjoy and have time to make your own tools great, but I know there are folks that need to budget their time and there should be no shame in purchasing tools even if they are not from the best or most expensive makers and have 50 year life expectancy. |

I have mostly Klemsia clamps, but have 12 of the Beech ones and they are ok, but are sort of "sticky" and don't slide easily. I have 12 Maple ones with an aluminum bar (can't remember where they came from) and only use them when all the other ones are in use. Hornbeam rules! |

David, would rubbing paraffin wax over the alum or steel bar make the beechwood clamps slide easier ?? |
