I'm looking for inspiration. I've always liked the Martin style head, and really want something different. If you have pics and are willing to share, then thank you! |

Haans, I can't come up with any words that are as cool as that design. To me, that just flows so gracefully. No words..... ![]() ![]() |

In my avatar. My idea was to keep the string runs relatively straight and otherwise just simple. Edit: not the best photo but one I had on my camera Attachment: IMG_0570.JPG

Very kind Joe and Terry. This was my V8, the pinnacle of my mandolin work. Here is the rest of the instrument... ![]() ![]() You wouldn't believe how difficult that scroll was. Much more difficult than the usual F5 fare. Wish I still owned the instrument. Afraid my guitar pegheads were pretty normal... |

I'll have to find a close-up, but one of my latest guitars - Headstock and shape inspired by Larson Bros Attachment: DSCN2395.jpg Glenn |

I've never understood how people get a smooth surface in such a tight space without hours upon hours of needle file work. Here are a couple of my fan fret headstocks. Still need to make a truss rod cover for the harp guitar... and perhaps a logo inlay too, though it looks good with just the tree anyway. |

Don't let my wife see the cat one! I'd be force to try to do an inlaid portrait of the stupid cat (or worse, pay for one)! |

Lance, that cat inlay is super - very classy against that black background. |

Having straight lines of string pull was a consideration in my headstock design. I'm not a fan of huge heastocks so this one is fairly compact. The downside of that is the limited amount of real estate for inlays. The general shape is echoed in the shape of the bridge. Imagine squashing the headstock shape a lot lengthwise and stretching it a lot width wise. ![]() ![]() |

Nothing original here. I'm just a rookie. The Ash and Mesquite did come out of my backyard, so I guess that counts for something. Dan |
