Post subject:  Bridge repair question

I'm doing a repair for a friend, replacing a bridge that was lifting off a redwood top. Got the bridge off, but took some redwood fibres with it. Thankfully, nothing outside the footprint of the bridge. There's maybe 25-30% of the top that's now attached to the bridge, none of it terribly deep.

The question. Do I scrape the bridge clean, or try to reglue it with the fibres still attached?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Chisel fibers off of bridge, glue back onto top and then put the bridge back on. The fibers will come off in many pieces, but do your best to put them where they should go. Clamp them down using small pieces of plexi glass as cauls. Once in place, use a small sanding block to get the surface as true as you can, then fit the bridge and glue it back on.
