While surfing Craigslist, I found this ad on the South Florida area ppst. http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/tls/4861407117.html Not sure if it is still available, but it might be a great opportunity for someone in the South Florida area. Says it is in excellent condition. For $600.00 it is worth a look. I live in NC and was considering looking into it, but my wife will not give me any money out of the cookie jar.

We have and use a 37 x 2 Super Max as our main sander it's a $6000 piece of equipment but we caught one on Craig's, may be my best find ever. It's a powerful accurate machine. I'd buy that 25 x2 in a heart beat. $ .02

I have the 37 x 2 also, it is US built, and has worked for me very nicely. If that 25 was near me I would snap it up.
Best deal on sandpaper rolls is the pre marked product from the klingspor woodworking store.

I lucked out and got a hardly used 22-44 pro on craigslist for 650 last summer.

I would like to second the recommendation for Klingspor Sandpaper Rolls. A great product. I live about 25 miles from Klingspor in Hickory, NC so it is one of my favorite "money pits".

Klingspor does seem like a great store -- I do have to say however, that we are disappointed in the roll 50 meter x 3" 80 grit Zirconia we are finishing up. The pre-cut marking were way off for our 37" SuperMax and the fabric backing was more like a paper or cardboard -- the main problem being it does not take a bend very well. We had several occasions when the ends just "snapped off" when being feed into the drum retention clamp. I had to use reinforced strapping tape to keep the end in place -- that works OK but its a PITA.

Ken, from my dealings with these folks, I would not hesitate to ask for an exchangeor a least voice your concern. I have used probably a dozen boxes of the pre marked rolls in various grits and have never had the problem you describe, though I have cut the end too short on 1 occasion, my fault. The lines for me have been dead on. Blue for the 37". Do you have the 5 or 7.5 hp? I have the 5 and find it a little slow at times when the auto load control kicks in. Wonder if the bigger motor would help.

I have a strip layout drawn on the shop floor so the length thing is really a non-issue. The brittle material is a problem. We have other suppliers for the abrasives and abrasive products we sell so an alternative source is readily available. Just posting a heads up. Our SM is 5 HP and an older model prior to the load sensor. Since we really do not do any fine finish sanding for our kit components I normally run the machine using only the front drum (one half the hassle!) and requires less power. And BTW I did send a message with photos re: the mis-markings and never got a response. But I know its difficult to respond to a situation caused by a supplier which likely Klingspor has no control. It is not my goal to trash those guys -- this may be a one off issue?

Wandered off topic here -- but this thread got me to thinking (uncommon occurrence) My other rolls of Zirconia are also made by Klingspor but not purchased from the store. The unmarked which gave us no problems is a different grade than the pre-cut. Seems the CS411Y has a tougher backing.
