So I'm in the middle of refinishing an OM for the 3rd time now, and my biggest issue right now is getting the Ivoroid bindings to end up the same color. Epifanes varnish is the finish, and anyone using it knows there's a good strong amber color to it, and if it's even slightly different in thickness over something light in color, even on a spruce top... it looks like tortoise shell with all the light and dark patches. Someone once suggested scraping the bindings after each coat, and then only getting the last couple of coats on them, but that seems rather troublesome. Has anyone out there dealt with this? How did you handle it? Thanks kindly, Don |

Don: If you don't get any joy here you could try Laurent Brondel , he is a user of Epifanes and may have the answer. Tom |
