I just had the pleasure of reading an article NPR did with forum member, Mike Lindstrom, the latest in their "Secret Lives of Teachers" series. I don't know if it's already been mentioned on here, as I can't make heads or tails of the latest Tapatalk update, but anyway, I think Mike deserves a shout out -- way to go Mike! Great job expressing the intangible joys of building, and how that finds its way into your original passion of teaching. I've always believed we're all at different places on the same path.

Great article, 'atta boy Mike!
I wish I had teachers like you...
I can relate to this statement:
"Most of the instruments I have built have been gifts or donations. I'm not opposed to selling them, but I worry about turning it into work and no longer enjoying it."

I think Mike has a wonderful perspective on his work--both in the classroom and the workshop. I really like that he values the experience of facing the same kinds of hurdles and vulnerabilities that his students must face each day. That's good stuff and inspiring. Thanks for sharing the article.

Good stuff and congrats Mike. Also good on NPR for shining the light on teachers. Too much focus these days on celebrities and sports stars. Teachers are some of the hardest working and most under appreciated folks.
