This one went out the door this morning. It is sycamore & lutz in my ES shape. Burton LeGety made me some beautiful macassar ebony tuner buttons for this one. It was the perfect final touch. Thanks Burton. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nicely Done! I like the shape and the bridge design. It looks like you have a backstrap... Is it also sycamore? Is that Engleman? How does she sound? |

That is beautiful. I like the way the Sycamore goes with the lutz. What finish did you use? Too bad it is gone and I won't get to see it. |

Bryan, I used west systems epoxy for pore fill, a 2lb cut of shellac for a sealer, and EM6000 for the top coat. |

That's a real nice instrument, Chris. I've pondered building with Sycamore--only I was thinking of a jazz arch top. Now...THAT would be way beyond tradition, but it might be pretty cool. I've never touched a piece of sycamore lumber. How are its workability properties? |

Yes very nice Chris .... I like the simple side binding treatment, no purfs, looks great. |

cphanna wrote: How are its workability properties? It bends, cuts, and sands very easily. My piece had a bit of a tendency to tear when planed, so I abraded to avoid it. Otherwise, it was very easy to work with. |

Chris! It looks so great- I really like the sycamore, the pronounced flecking is really nice I think. The finish looks great too- What are you putting under the EmTech? And, what kind of pickup did you put in? |
