I wonder if anyone has ever made a band saw blade welder? Not a jig to hold the blade for brazing but rather a spot welder. Tom |

Some of the larger metal cutting bandsaws have them built into the saw. |

Clay: Worked as a machinist and all our saws had welders. It seems to me that it would not be too difficult to come up with something that would work. The electronics are beyond me so hoping someone has made one. Tom |

I believe Lee Valley has (or had) a jig and 'silver solder' setup to repair bandsaw blades that was used with a propane torch Brent |

The silver solder works, but your bandsaw wheel must be at least 14" because I found if the wheel diameter is too small, a brazed joint may not hold up well. It also takes a few tries to get the braze right... right temperature, right annealing, right angle, etc. So many ways for things to go wrong here... one bad weld and the blade is toast. Often when the blade breaks under tension it also kinks it badly |
