Here are some photos of my latest (#10). This is the one with the truss rod rattle that I have to fix. What a bummer... So, here are the specs:

- OM Style / 25.4' scale
- Peruvian Walnut Back & Sides
- Sinker Redwood top
- Spanish Cedar neck (scarf joint and stacked heel) with Maple and Peruvian Walnut lamination
- Zebra Wood bindings and radial purfling
- Padauk fingerboard, bridge, head plate, end wedge, and sound hole binding
- figured walnut back strap and heel plate
- Adirondack Spruce scalloped x-bracing
- EM6000 over shellac (Z-Poxy pore fill)

I seem to always do something new on each build. This time it was the neck with scarf joint/stacked heel and lamination and the radial purfling. Thanks for looking and for being there for advise.
Steve

Very nice! I like the figured Walnut and Padauk. The Zebrawood looks sharp, too!

Beautiful. I love the neck and rosette. You guys are making me want to bite the bullet and try radial purfling.

Yeah, that's a sharp looking guitar! I like the accent at the stacked heel. Well done!

Nickton - Browse the tutorial section and you'll find a nice video by Chris Verhoeven on making radial purfling.

A very beautiful guitar. The stacked heel combined with the lam neck is very cool looking. Also interested in anything you can add about Z poxy. I tried grain filling with zpoxy and it took forever to dry and then was a nightmare to sand.

Not sure how I missed this. I was away for a couple of days but glad it came back up...

That is a sweet looking guitar, Dark and Rich... Reminds me of chocolate and espresso...

Nice clean job!

Cheers,
Bob

Thanks for the positive comments. There is nothing like recognition from other builders. Folks that don't do this don't appreciate how much goes into it... Previously, I had carved the neck from a single piece of wood. This is my first scarf joint and stacked heel. With the lamination, this neck is a lot more complicated than carving a single piece. BTW - I found a piece of figured maple trim at "Habitat for Humanity" and that is what I used for the lamination.

Dane - Zpoxy just takes some practice. I use a credit card to apply it evenly and it seems like I usually have to apply it about three times. It usually allow it to dry over night. Pore filling is just the beginning of the trying process of finishing... ...not my favorite part...

A real beauty! I too love the stacked heel. This guitar has such a nice appeal to it. How does that sound?

Thanks Randolf. I'm very pleased with the sound. The redwood gives it kind of a snappy quality, but also a richness too. I think the peruvian walnut is probably a lot like black walnut, strong fundimental. As I said, unfortunately, the truss rod rattles and I'm going to have to fix that. This is the first one of the ten I've made to have a rattle. From the advise that folks on the OLF have given me I don't think fixing it will be that bad. I just hate to have to fix a guitar that I completed. Dang it...
