![]() ![]() It's pretty beat up. It was rode hard and put away wet. Cracked top, tweaked tail piece, really horrible patch job on the side. But from a builders stand point, just amazing for being almost 100yrs old. While inspecting with a. Mirror someone tried to repair a crack with wallpaper and cardboard decades ago. I know it's not super relative to building, but I figured I would share. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's a wonderful old guitar. I hope you will document any and all repairs that you do (and the older repairs, too--that would be very interesting). Nice score! |

I had one of those about 30+ years ago. The tuners were shot so I replaced them with a set of "pearl" buttoned rotomatic type tuners (don't remember if they were Grovers or Schallers). The finish was messed up on the top so I stripped it , which helped redistribute some of the dye, and refinished it with Birchwood Casey Truoil. It was a funky old guitar with a a baseball bat neck - It didn't sound great, but didn't sound bad. I sold it to a cousin of mine for breakeven. Today I may have done things differently, but back then it was an old guitar with worn out tuners and a grungy top. |
