Hey everyone, I got a pretty good gift cert for my birthday/anniversary. I have a vacuum system in my shop that I use for braces and bridges. I was looking at the vac holder from LMI. just curious if anyone here has any experience/comments on the unit. Thanks Richard |

I have one and find it useful. It really holds the guitar well and it is nice to be able to position the guitar while working on it. |

Mine plays a major role in my assembly process. I use it to hold the braced guitar top for final sanding, and during binding scraping and sanding, etc. Some woods are too porous and you will lose vacuum. I never lose vacuum through a spruce top, but care should be taken to make sure the clamp surface and the top are clean. I haven't damaged a top yet. I will say that the older version has a very robust base and holds the guitar rock solid. I'm not so sure about the new base being offered. |

I was just looking at the holder myself, I'm glad to hear that people are having good experiences with it. I think I may bite the bullet and get the holder and bridge clamp. I bought a pump about two years ago with the intention of going vacuum, but never got around to it. |

I've also got the vacuum bridge clamp. As long as you have taken the time to make sure the bridge exactly fits the contour of the guitar top, I think it does great! It's certainly very easy to use. Some folks on the forum feel that it doesn't provide enough clamping force. I guess time will tell. |

+1 for the bridge clamp. If you're using hide glue, give it 5-7 minutes, take it off, clean off the squeeze out, and put it on for another 10 minutes. Good luck Steve |

Looks very nice. I have a similar but simpler product (no ball head) from vac-u-clamp that they no longer make, and it's really very useful. It's my guitar holding tool for stuff like routing binding ledges as it lets me set even a wedged body at the appropriate angle. Still planning to get a vacuum bridge clamp. |
