Back on the horse and it's going well. I might actually finish #1 version 3 after 5 years! Anywho, I am in the finishing stage and I'm wondering a couple things.

I am wiping on shellack as a pore fill and then finishing with wipe on poly (body) and try oil (neck) should I glue the neck on now? Or do it after finishing?

I like to finish neck and body separately.

I too find it much easier to finish when the neck if off the body. A lot easier to sand and buff the guitar when it is in two pieces.

Hey, Joey,
To my eyes, that's a very nice looking guitar. Please post some pictures when it's finished.

Nice lookin' guitar! I concur with finishing the neck and body separate. ...especially since you are going to use different materials on each. I would still prefer to finish them separately even when using the same finish materials... Can't wait to see it done. I'm sure you can't wait either...

Finishing them separately is how I do it. I think its much easier.

Just a friendly reminder: Shellac will take many coats to fill deep pores. If you are trying to completely fill the pores, don't forget that shellac will continue to shrink, especially for the first few weeks.

Good luck. And don't feel bad. It took me 3 years to finish my first guitar.
