Hello, I wanted to share some pictures of my recent build. made of Italian spruce, Cypress B&S (locally harvested), ebony FB, Cedro neck, Indian Rw bridge.
Sounds nice, Im pleased with it.

Yes, very nice indeed. I also like the slots on the headstock - a restrained and elegant decoration. The way that you blend the heel cap into the back , through the bindings, is also a nice and distinctive touch. Mark |

Very nice! Is the cypress down your way the same species as Spanish Cypress? Is it plentiful or just the result of the odd ornamental planting? |

Its cupressus semprevirens, the one with the distinctive sharp cone shape. Its widely used as ornamental, but not often found in size and free of branches. This one was around 100 years and had about 3 meters free of branches and a diameter of about 65 cm. it was located in my towns graveyard, and fell among many other trees during a very powerful storm a few years ago. I went to the place and ask the guy incharge if I could make my self with some wood, he sent me to speak with hes superior, I got the ok so I went back, picked the most suitable tree, cut to manageable size, and then after a lot of work and resawing I ended up with a handful of very good sets, and some other lesser quality. The grain is not very tight, and it widens some more at the center but all in all was a great score. |

To be honest I couldn´t tell if its one or the other, first of all it depends a lot on playing technique. and I don´t have either of those. I guess it has what I think its the normal sound of cypress, kind of dry if I may say.. anyway I´ll try to make a decent sounding clip these days and will upload so you can hear by your self. |
