Thanks folks! James, the tuners are Waverlys. Jim and Steve, Larson's made Prairie State guitars and others with what they called "tone tubes". At that time they used a metal rod and ran it from the dovetail block to endblock right through the center of the soundhole. Not too good for repair people! I decided to use (almost against my own principles) CF tubes and run them from upper wings on the dovetail block to buttresses at the back of the instrument. This way you can get your hand in there...  RusRob, keep at it. Take a look at my website under visit shop. In the tradition of the old guitars, the inlay technique is not that perfect, not CNC'd. It's what the old instruments looked like...black filler around the inlay. Thanks, Terry! Looks like he did crack a a little smile as he deftly recovered from a mistake. Dave is not that fond of rosewood guitars (although he just got a BRW), he's mostly a mahogany type guy. He has been excited by my white oak instruments though, and I am building a GC-6 for him in the Larson style. |

Again, thanks guys! The owner is very anxious to pick it up. Steve Sollod, the main bracing is tucked and so are the tone bars. the fingers are not. Steve Smith, I started using them on 12's to keep the neck block from rotating, and have not built an instrument yet without them. Brad, the tune is Joseph Spence's "Great Dream From Heaven"... |

Another beauty Haans! I love the fact it has an old timey steel string exterior, but the carbon fiber and the bracing scheme is definitely innovative. I love the tone and in a couple years I bet she sounds twice as sweet. Good photos of some details I hadn't seen before, like the line under the fretboard binding, thanks for posting. Having lived in Minneapolis most of my life it's great to see Dakota Dave looking so good and still playing his ragtime jazzy riffs. Tim |

Thanks Tim, I like to do my creative thinking on the inside of the instrument. The bracing is just the original Larson bracing, but is all laminated and with an extra tone bar...the outside is just flat traditional... Pat, very kind! |

i was really impressed by the photos, then i got to the one of the top bracing and wow! really well done and really interesting. how did you brace the back? great work thanks for sharing! |

Darryl, thanks, but not sure I understand the question...photo #3 is the Hormigo back. Patch, here is the undyed inside of the Hormigo with the laminated bracing.  Ken and Joe, thanks! All the bracing is a little complex, especially gluing up all the lams, but it's an early take on Larsons, except for laminating everything, and the spruce triangle with blackwood ball end patch. The third tone bar was an idea brought to my attention by Dave Hull. Don't really know what it's supposed to do, as I work mainly with taps and nothing else. The 3 finger braces were originally Larson too. |
