Post subject:  Slotted head tuner bushings

I've just noticed that LMI sells bushings with no flange to use on the interior end of a slot head tuner. I've seen very few of these actually installed on guitars.
Does anyone have experience with these bushings? The suppliers eg. Grover, Waverly don't include them with their tuners so are they a needless addition?
They sort of make sense to me.

Gotoh includes bushings and a tool to install them. Grover has the same bushings as the solid headstock open backs and they can be used. I did one with grovers without any bushings and was disappointed in the tuners quality but the lack of bushings was not the problem too much play in the gears was the issue.

I have used 3 sets on the gotoh all with bushings installed and they are very smooth to tune with and no gear lash like the grovers.
