Post subject: | Guild m20 plans? |
Hi guys, I've been lurking for a while, 1st post, so... Hello! I've built electrics for a while now and I've nearly finished my first acoustic, a parlour guitar - I'll make a thread for it soon to see what you all think. I'm thinking of building a Guild M20 for my second acoustic but I cant find any plans, does anyone have any available or know where I could get them? Thanks. |

Hi, Thanks for the welcome! Yeah that was me asking. It was a bit of a long shot though wasn't it? Failing to find the plans, does anyone know what differences there are in construction between the original M20 and the modern M120, bracing, shape, size, scale length etc? |

Interesting subject! To me, the M20 looks like a version of the Martin 0-17, and I've thought that someday I might build a guitar based on my 0-17 but using the M20 pickguard shape, etc. However, you might do better than an 0-17 in drag, and perhaps there are substantial differences between the two instruments. I'd suggest you ask your question at http://www.letstalkguild.com/ltg/forumd ... c-Electric I tried to search this form for "M20," but that search term is too short to function in its search utility. The search instructions are incomplete, but I did figure out that it will search on "exact phrase" if you use quotation marks. I got no hits on "M20 dimensions," "M20 scale," " nor "my M20," but there were two on "early M20," both reviews o 1999 M20's without any specific information. The site seems to be mainly players chatting about their instruments and doesn't normally address luthiers concerns. But I'll bet there are some people who own M20's who'd be happy to share information. With this info and a plan for a Martin 0, you could probably come pretty close to building an accurate copy. If you find out anything useful, please let us know! |
