Has kind of a cold sound to me ![]() Pretty amazing really, lots to think about there actually, like why does the violin still sound violinish? Is it simply the scale length, box size and bow? |

That is cool. (Had to do it.) I clicked through to another of the videos on Vimeo. Was mostly and interview with the ice luthier, but there was a little of the orchestra playing together. Didn't sound very full or complex, although that may have more to do with what they were trying to record. As Jim said, the violin certainly sounds violinish. |

Although they don't make it obvious, I think all the instruments have pick-ups so what you are hearing is more a tribute to modern electronics rather than anything else. There's another fellow on Youtube that made an electric guitar out of a cinder block. Sounds pretty good. He was selling the pick-up. Pat |
