I broke down and finally orderd my new band saw. It is a Laguna 14" with the 3hp Leeson motor. It has a 14" resaw capability so I also ordered the Resaw King with it. FInally I can retire the old craftsman to doing small scroll work. If anyone is interested it is on sale until May 30th at 10% discount. http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2083658/35880/Laguna-14-Bandsaw-3-HP-Leeson-Motor-LT14-SUV.aspx It should arrive in a few days and I am so excited... ![]() Cheers, Bob |

Please give a real thorough review if you can, especially with an eye towards resawing if that's what you will be using it for sometimes. I have my eye on that exact same unit... |

I have done a lot of research on them and decided on this one for a couple of reasons. #1 The trunnion on this saw is much more stable than the other ones I was looking at. The next contender was the Rikon 14" Pro with a 3 hp motor and the same 14" resaw capacity. The difference was night and day when you grab the table and put any force on it. The Rikon moved where the Laguna with a wider trunnion was rock solid. #2 The Laguna has the slot for removing the blade that goes to the right side of the table and not the front. The Rikon has it to the front which is right were the fence guide is so you have to mess around more to change blades. #3. The 14" blades are less expensive than a larger saw and both of these have a 14" resaw capacity and the 3 hp motor. Almost every review I have seen or read on the Laguna has been positive for resaw capability. Since I am not going into the resawing business I will only be using it for a few tops and backs a year so I didn't feel I needed anything larger than this. For me it seemed to strike a good balance of replacing my old saw with a much larger capacity and the price was in my range. Just under $2,000 with the Resaw King and a general purpose 1/2" blade plus the mobility base. I will post a review after I have used it but those are my reasons for choosing this saw. Cheers, Bob |

No, But I do know it isn't made in the USA... My guess is China. What isn't made in China these days? When I was looking at different saws at Woodcraft I asked the salesman if any of there saws were US made and he just laughed.... I think they use to be Italian made but I am not sure. Bob |

I think you'll be very happy with this saw. Laguna really pushed the bar with the design of this one. I'm thinking of selling my 18" Rikon and buying one of these. Enjoy... ![]() |

It's definitely made in China, however the build quality seems pretty high. |

I've had the Laguna 14SE for six or seven years. Seemed expensive at the time, but it's a keeper. I'm betting you'll love yours, as well. |

Enjoy the saw! Just remember to invest as much time as required in set up! Set up is everything. |

At 1 3/4 Hp, the max on a 120 circuit, you're not going to be doing well for resawing most likely. The SUV is 220 and 3 HP, which is obviously more powerful. There is a thread presently on the AGF where a fella is resawing on his SUV and it's working like a charm. It has cemented my decision that it's the right saw for me... |
