Here is a response from LMI to my inquiry regarding availability of their Instrument Makers Glue that is currently out of stock:

"Unfortunately, the manufacturer of the FG glue has introduced changes in the formula which have compromised the quality of the glue. They have not given us any indication that they would change and so we have been forced to look at some alternatives. If you are still working with the FG, do not be concerned. If you had some from a ‘bad batch’ the glue would have become coagulated and you would not be able to get it out of the bottle! Also, any joints made from the problem glue are as strong as usual.

Please check back to our website. We expect to have the new product available in the next few weeks (maybe sooner). The new glue has some amazing features and in many ways is an improvement!"

So what are these new amazing features then?

Maybe you can plug in the bottle and get instant HHG! Realistically, longer shelf life or ability to cross link to itself would be welcomed.

I particularly like the "repositionable" feature of that glue! Could come in handy!

Hi All,
Yes, it's true! New glue should be "on the shelf" in a week, maybe two. It's really great stuff, but different from FG. A full write up will be on the web when it goes on sale. We tried hard to "rescue" the old FG, but sadly it is now a thing of the past....

Not ripping on LMI, as I'm a VERY satisfied customer, but I can't help but be a little wary of a "new" glue. I mean, how does one test the long-term viability of a new product? By using it, setting it aside and checking on it later, of course. Unless this glue crossover has been in the works for years and there is both empirical and anecdotal evidence to back up the new glue's efficacy, it's going to be a tough sell--at least to me.

Again, I have had nothing but stellar interactions with LMI, so my comments are not meant to disparage the company in any way. That said, I am very glad that I've been moving toward HHG for most glue up operations of late.

I'm going to sell my old glue on Ebay. Now if will be considered rare and vintage.
