If anyone can help me out with a source for spalted maple rosette squares I would appreciate it. I'm currently out and am in need of few. I'm attaching a photo of one of my rosettes for reference on the type of spalting I'm looking for. Thanks. Attachment: spalted rosette small.jpg

Check out Bow River, they had awesome stuff last time I was there and are a sponsor here. I didn't see them on their site but I'm sure they have them... http://www.bowriverwoods.com/tonewoods/ ... tive-parts |

Jim we have a good selection. Some with curl and spalt. By the way we were the first source to offer rosette squares. ![]() |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLACKLINE-SPALT ... 4ad40c277d Have you looked through ebay? Also, unless you absolutely only want maple, do not limit your ebay search to maple. |

I've bought from rctonewoods, and got a pack of mixed wood pieces to play with. If you can resaw, a bowl blank from Woodcraft will work, but I just can't get my blade to track well enough cut thin slices. |

I recently got some from Fraser Valley. http://www.mcssl.com/store/f-v-fine-woo ... ead-plates You could try asking if they have anything like what you are looking for. I'll post some pictures of what I bought after my second cup. Alex |

Thanks guys, you've given me some good leads. You know I'm probably the only person on the planet that hasn't ever bought or sold anything on ebay. I'd look occasionally but most of what I ever saw there was mostly poor cuts, things have probably improved since then I suppose, but then maybe not. |

I buy knife blanks from eBay then slice them into tiles and assemble them mosaic style. I think it gives a more interesting look. Also I prefer stabilized spalted over natural as it is much tougher |

Sam, I've done that before too, it does make a nice rosette, but if there's enough random spalting in a natural square to make it visually interesting in a rosette I prefer that rather than a repeating pattern. I sent Bob C a PM and I'm hoping to here back from him soon, but I may need to go that route. Nice rosette BTW. |
