Hi all, I'd like to post some pics of my 20th finished guitar. It's an L-00 clone, my own shape but very familiar. The guitar is quite simple; sitka top, honduran mahogany back and sides, lacewood binding, cocobolo fingerboard and headstock overlay, amazon rosewood bridge (20 grams because it is important IMO), stained laminated neck. It's been just less than 4 years since I finished my first and I'd like to thank all of those who share their knowledge and keep me improving the end result of my wonderful obsession. Thanks, Tim |

Quite simply well done, Tim! It has it's own bits of flash in the execution of the details. Alex |

Tim, Very, very nice. Lovely shape. Beautiful choices throughout, as far as I can see. Okay, sure, there are some choices I might have made differently, but that's just me. Further, I probably wouldn't have completed mine in such a beautiful way. I think your guitar is an inspiration to many of us. It certainly is to me. Congratulations! Patrick |

WoW, #20 Congratulations to that! That is a very fine looking guitar and a nice color combo. And a very interesting design element with the headstock. fretboard and bridge shapes. Very nice subtle detail that sets it off quite well. She is a beauty. Cheers, Bob |

Very nicely done! ...love the rosette and the lacewood binding is very nice. I have two questions for you: - 20 guitars in less than 4 years is very impressive. Are you making guitars for a living or do you (as do I) have a full time job doing something else? - You said that the neck is stained. It doesn't look stained to me. Could you explain? Thanks, Steve |

Thanks to all for your kind words. sdsollod wrote: Very nicely done! ...love the rosette and the lacewood binding is very nice. Are you making guitars for a living or do you (as do I) have a full time job doing something else? - You said that the neck is stained. It doesn't look stained to me. Could you explain? Thanks, Steve Well Steve, first off no I'm not building for a living but my better half and I own a custom furniture, cabinetry and millwork shop. I feel that with the tools and equipment we own coupled with space to work I have quite an advantage. I think I also have an advantage by the volume of woodworking and finishing I do every day. Thousands of board feet of processing, tens of thousands of joints, dovetails, mortises, etc, hundreds of gallons of finishing etc., every year. Another aspect is guitar building is what I do for fun. No more motorcycles, cars, boats, a rare round of golf, I don't watch a lot of sports or tv for that matter. Concerning the staining of the neck. The lamination is alder, padouk and hard maple. I just wanted the neck to be closer in tone to the mahogany and lacewood. This guitar is quite monochromatic by design with the exception of the rosette. Thx. Tim |

Nice details. I believe the L-00 is on my build to do list eventually as it was one of my first guitars and it was stolen 25 years ago. |

Wow... Beautiful. The guitars that people build on this site is inspiring. It motivates me when I make a mistake and have to undo some of the work to redo it properly. I try to not cut corners because of the quality of work I see other people doing here. |

I love L-00's, and your take on it is elegant in its restraint. Though the rosette is a bit busy for my taste, I find your other design elements very well conceived. A real beauty. Ken Jones Mountain Song Guitars |

Bobc wrote: Beautiful guitar Tim. Love the rosette Bob, you have excellent taste! ![]() Thanks again to all who have commented. To all who have remarked about L-00 type guitars, I wholehearted recommend them. There is something about their size and shape that just works tonally. It is also versatile as I have also made a short 24.625 scale thirteen fret on this exact body. Strung with mediums it has terrific tone. The guitar pictured here is being recorded today and tomorrow. I will post a clip. Tim |
