Post subject: | Sanding Pad Recommendation for RO Sander |
I recently bought a Dynabrade Dynabug II sander http://www.amazon.com/Dynabrade-58505-D ... de+dynabug I have been using a Dynabrade sander for sanding the top and back plates but have always sanded the sides by hand. I got this sander specifically for sanding the sides; however, the medium density pad is simply not rigid enough to flatten the sides adequately. I have looked online and have not been able to find a single option for a harder pad for this product. At this point, I am considering just manufacturing my own pad by using a piece of hardwood with velcro pad or perhaps modifying a hard hand sanding block and making a pad from it. I would prefer to just buy a hard density pad. Can anyone recommend a product or perhaps a store that might be able to find what I'm looking for. |

A possible solution would be to velcro attach a piece of Formica and use PSA paper on it when you need to do the initial side flattening. The Formica would be lighter weight and wouldn't wear out your sanders pad as quickly as a heavier wood block would, but would provide a hard surface when you need it. If you need some small pieces of Formica, let me know and I will send it out to you. |

I can't seem to get the PM's to work. I'll send you some pieces the first part of next week when the post office reopens. Clay |

Hello, I believe that you will find what you want on the dynabrade site. It's huge and a bit tedious but once you find your particular dynabug model, look at the parts list and the exploded view will list the pads that are available. I do not have a dynabug but do own 9 dynabrade tools and they tend to be quite thorough in covering necessary durometer options for their RO sanders. If you have a dynabrade industrial dealer in your area they can probably help if the website is a fail. T |
