Does anyone know of a source for a 45 degree chamfer bit with a 1/8" shaft and roller bearing on the end? I've searched the internet without success. I have found 1/4" shaft bits with the bearing. I've also found them with a 1/8" shaft but no bearing. I find the bearing is necessary to avoid burnishing the bearing surface on the inside of the string slots. The 1/8" shaft is necessary to allow use on a small rotary tool to get all the way around the string slot on the back of the head. A laminate router base hits the back of the neck with about an inch to go on the slot.

Any sources or ideas?

The porter cable lam trimmer offers an offset router base that might allow you to get closer

You can make your own offset base by attaching a piece of wood or UHMW to the existing base.

The offset router base actually moves the router bit to the edge of the base using a toothed gear and belt arrangement. I might even have one around for a 310 trimmer although I no longer have a 310 router to go with it .

The offset I use is with my 7310 routers and still available:

Depth adjustment is limited and it may be necessary to fabricate different thickness sub bases to get to the depth you want to use.

Thanks for the input. I found an offset router base for the Bosch Colt and I have one of these. Looks like it will do what I want.
