Howdy folks, happy New Year!
I am in need of a fretting template (for table saw slotting) that I do not find in the usual sources.
I realize that 25.3" is awfully close, but then that is itself awfully close to 25.34".
Anyway, a client wants this scale, 25 1/4", if I can find it.

Sources? Condolences?

TIA,

Steve

How close is that to 640mm? Cause LMI has a 640mm template....

Thanks for the replies guys.
Meddling/Colin... You suggest I use a scale that's .05315" off?
How sloppy do you think me to be?

Hey Steve, I happen to have one if you want to stop by.

With compensation that should put you pretty close to the mark, just as 24.625 is referred to as 24 3/4"...

That's what I like to hear! That's over 1/20" - Not that the customer could tell the difference.
You may be on to a winner with Matt (Jacobs)....
Maybe he would even let you cut a template from his template if you want something long-term (repeat business!)

Steve,
How could anyone possibly notice a difference between 25.25 and 25.34? ...I guess the customer is always right...

A multi scale I use, 24.9 / 25.34 was made by Bob Garrish via Shane @ High Mtn. Bob does hang out here from time to time. I don't know if it would be cost affective for a one off. The one I use certainly seems well intonated to my tired old ears.

Ah, thanks fellas. What a helpful lot!
Matt to the rescue...again. Matt, you know I'd love to stop by, and not just for this. We'll do a Clark's run while we're at it.
Steve, the customer is from the UK, and they can feel such minute differences. Colin didn't realize that the client was from his side of the pond. Actually, I'm a bit surprised he put it to me in inches, and not mm's. Old school, I guess.

Thanks again all,

Steve

So if you don't mind my asking, what is a Clark's run? I have a favorite Clark's, but it's not guitar related, just wondering if it might be the same thing.

you might check out Waldron Guitars. I needed one a special size, they made it for me. Super nice folks, easy to work with.

Phil, a Clark's run is a trip to the largest hardwood yard in the Houston area.
It's a bank account disaster, but really fun.
And that's the 2nd nod to Waldron. Thanks!

Thanks, I was curious. The one I know is Clark's Corvair Parts. Never been there, but when they come to local shows, the "bank account disaster" is the same!
