Hi all, I've got a comfy mexican strat 21 fret neck which I'm thinking about extending to 22 frets. Would this be possible ? if so what would be the best way to do this, given that I have only standard diy tools. Thanks for any tips / advice. |

Pretty easy for rosewood boards. Pull a fret (19th, 20th - whatever), cut through the fingerboard, and glue on your extension. Refret where the cut was made, level the frets, touch up the finish. Play. Make sure you measure a lot, and do your math beforehand. Done it a couple times for clients. No sweat. |

hi Chris, thanks for the reply. So this would be to cut the fingerboard, move the small piece toward the bridge, then glue in the extension fingerboard piece into the missing space and refret etc? |

I suppose you could, but I always glued on a new piece of wood. |
