Thanks for the heads up. I just checked mine, and luckily my model # isn't on the list.

I checked the Internet and find that Whirlpool has its own recall. They are not on the above lists.

Yeah, I lost my 70 pint Kenmore to the recall when I took it in for warranty repair (these things had fragile evaporators.)

I thought the affected units were manufactured by LG - that's where all my subsequent paperwork came from and went to.

I just checked the model number on mine. I'm okay. Surely this is a thread that should stay at the top for a while. How do we make that happen?

Thanks for the alert. I checked my dehumidifier and the model number is slightly different (GM-DEH-45-1 vs GM-DEH-45M-1). So I guess I'm in the clear.

Thanks again,
Max

My dehumidifier is on the list (both it a few months ago). I put in my claim, but have to wait for them to get in contact with me. Meanwhile, I no longer have a dehumidifier in my workshop! Thankfully, it is nice and dry here in south NJ for a few days.

What do you guys recommend for a replacement? I need to get one by Monday.

My model is on the list but doesn't have the date code shown the way they explain it so may not be one of the affected ones. I'll have to call them Monday.

Thanks for posting this [:Y:]

Thanks for the heads up. Mine is on the list and never been used since I bought it 15 months ago. Was planning on plugging it in on Monday. Thanks again.

I called about my Soleusair 70 pint unit and it is on the recall list. If you want to check yours call the Gree recall hotline direct at 1-866-853-2802. If yours is affected they send out a kit so you can send them the power cord and labels. They may want other parts, I don't know, but obviously they want to make sure the units are deactivated. Some time after they receive the parts back they will issue a refund check. Guess I need to go dehumidifier shopping.

Just a heads up. I mistakenly thought my soleus air was not on the recall list by checking the numbers . I was wrong. Just called them an gave them the number, and it was on the list. Had to unplug . Bummer.

My numbers didn't look like those on the list either. From talking to the guy at Gree it looks anything from 2007 to early 2013. Good news for them, I suppose, is most of those units have long since failed and gone to the dump, given the usual 1 or 2 year lifespan.

I looked at the commercial units but they start around $600, too much for me, so I've replaced mine with a Frigidaire 70 pint unit. We'll see how it goes. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AU7GZXE/ref=pe_385040_30332190_pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1

Thanks steve for the link , much appreciation , just when The gree guy tells me to unplug, the humidity starts climbing up in our damp bsmt. Mine/s 3 yrs old.Gree offered to send me 189$ , but they are sending me a packet which I have to return with the plug and the model/unit label from the rear. Amazon also offers deals on free shipping sometimes when you use their credit card.

Missed the date range by three months, dang it! My dehumidifier is almost 5 years old so would be nice to get my money back;)

Per some of the other posts, check with the company anyway. It seems that maybe not all serial numbers were listed. And I think the recall really oes by serial number, not by date.

A good idea, my number wasn't listed on the website but I called and it turned out to be a recall.

Mine is on the list as well. The problem is the $169 they are sending me back will not cover a new unit.

I had a disagreement with a company on a freezer warranty, and they upped their offer. You might try asking for more.

Are all dehumidifiers made in the same place? We have a similar list in Taiwan of dehumidifier recalls because the effected model could burst into flame while running...

Wondering the same thing.... I bought a little 21 pint unit this summer; brand name "Classic". None of the numbers come close to matching anything on the recall listings, but it is made in China and from the looks of things, most likely at the same factory as all the rest, here.

Works like a charm, and is really sweet and quiet, so I'd actually hate to have to swap it, but would be crushed by a fire, so... What to do? I can call the Gree number, but will they be able to tell me if they did, in fact, make this thing?
