I used one to paint my aunt's house. It's noisy as hell, and hard to clean up after usage. In my experience, it would be hard to get a small spray pattern for guitars, but then - I never tried all of the heads available to fit these guns. |

I own the Wagner Control Spray Double Duty, and although the product website states (similarly to the control spray plus), "...spray thin materials such as stains, sealers, urethanes, varnishes, and lacquers." I contacted Wagner Tech support to inquire if it would be suitable to spray nitro. This is the response I received: Quote: Good morning. The seals in a Control Spray Double Duty are not resistant to lacquer thinner, so you may experience irreversible damage to the spray head itself. The best way to minimize this is to clean the sprayer quickly and not let the lacquer thinner set in the sprayer too long. If damage does occur to your sprayer, you would need to order 0417700A front end as a replacement ($24.30 plus freight). Also, make sure you are using this in an area with plentiful ventilation and no exposed flames (i.e. furnaces, gas stoves, etc) as the fumes from this type of lacquer is very flammable. Wagner Service I haven't tried it yet, but I intend to experiment with 2 lb. shellac first. Good luck |

I agree with Chris. I have a similar sprayer, used it twice, and is currently collecting dust on an upper shelf. If you have a compressor, you can try this http://www.gleempaint.com/hvcongunnew.html. I used one for cabinetry stain and finishing before I bought my Fuji, and it does a good job. Alex |

I started with one. It worked OK. About 6 months later I decided to buy a compressor and spray guns because I was starting to get into doing bursts and more intricate finished in general. I can't even tell you how much better it is in comparison. I think I have less than $400 invested in my rig. Worth every penny. The control spray is just ok. You will find yourself wishing you had gotten something better after using it a couple times though. |
