I just saw this new Woodriver Spindle Sander being offered at an introductory price of $139.99. Any of you that have been considering a spindle sander should check it out at Woodcraft. http://www.woodcraft.com/product/208581 ... ander.aspx ![]() |

I've seen three other brands of these sanders that, apart from the color, look identical to this one(shop fox, rockwell, triton). Are they all the same, manufactured by the same company? Also, I've considered a spindle sander in the past but wasn't sure if these little bench-top versions would be very useful or if they're more of a toy. Anyone have an opinion on that? |

I just bought a grizzly on sale for $119.00. I got it because it had a much lager table than most. Those just seem to small to be of use. |

Actually I just bought one and made a Telecaster body with it. It's a 1/4 horsepower but it doesn't seem like it. The smaller table is just what I was looking for. One side of the table is narrow the other is wide, I have uses for both. I've been using an old craftsman tabletop for the last 15 years. Not a toy at all, I find it very useful for solid body electrics, and acoustic guitar bridges. Also necks and other stuff. Very useful. |

Filippo Morelli wrote: You made a whole telecaster body with a spindle sander? Dude you're my hero! ![]() Filippo ![]() Ha ha. Okay, I thicknessed the blank with my my 16/32 sander. Traced out the shape with a template. Bandsawed just outside the line with my bandsaw. THEN I used the spindle sander. Routed out the cavities, rounded the edge, drilled the 7/8th inch jack hole. Easy cheesy! |

I have an identical model made by Performax. It was like 60 bucks on sale at Menards. It works very well and it has a dust port on the back that sucks up almost all the dust. I use it a lot. |

Mine looks just like that but it's orange. I bought mine from harbor freight. Don't remember what I paid but it works really good. |

I just bought a ridged combination spindle / edge sander from home depot the week before I got the flyer from woodcraft. I've come to trust the woodriver brand from woodcraft, even though I know that there are several exact same models out there that are more than likely made out of the same factory to the same specs... So I've kept the ridged, so far so good, but i've only used it a few times. |

The top seems too small for many luthiery tasks, such as truing up molds, shaping neck blanks, etc. Seems like the big stuff might loose balance and fall off if not held down well. I got the big Jet table top spindle sander...glad I did..love it. |

I got that flyer in the mail too and had the same reaction. Sounds like there are other options so I guess I won't rush into it. I'll have to check Menards |

The front is small. I use the back side of the table. It has more area. I have been thinking about buying this one. http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-Oscil ... fXE6pz7a8s |
