Hire a customs broker, mandatory. Get a Secure Carrier Authorization Code (70$, 20 minutes) Fill out the forms the broker sends, including a NAFTA certificate. Make an invoice including the value of the guitars, who's buying them, who you are etc. (your life will be easier if they are already paid for) you may have to pay duty on cases and accessories Give all your passport stats to the broker who will file an electronic manifest on your behalf Fill out Lacey PPQ-505's for each instrument and email to broker (who will scan them and include them in his e-transmission to the border peeps... Load up, cross fingers, and drive through the commercial lane. Hope your broker did their stuff right. Ours didn't and we nearly had to go home, but fortunately we had a benevolent badge who helped us instead of telling us to take a hike (and we got to keep our pants on the whole time)...who knew a zero in a manifest code could be so troublesome? Mail hard copies of your PPQ 505's to USDA after the dust settles. Overall fees, about 400$, but spread over eight guitars, better than shipping. We will do it again.... |

Hmm, I thought maybe tequila, but I suppose that would be boring. |

Ree-diculous. Come on, it's just a couple of guitars. At my border, they might open them with crowbars to check for bundles. |
