Finished my first 12 string and delivered it last night. Lutz spruce, figured sapele, medium flame maple and ebony trim.

Recorded on my iPhone.

This video would also fit well into Todd's "Why you build" string. :)

Beautiful guitar and very great work. I would like to hear what it sounds like. I realize it is gone and that won't happen but in my perfect world it is how it would be.

Can you tell a bit about design/structure changes to account for the extra tension?

Thanks for the kind words. I was very happy with the way it turned out, as was the new owner.

I have a very short video from my iPhone I will try to post tomorrow. Sound quality is what you'd expect of an iPhone, but it gives an approximation of the sound. The new owner has plans to record with it in the not too distant future, so better clips should be available down the road.

Aside from keeping the bracing a bit taller than normal, I added structural support against rotational forces on the neck by installing two carbon fiber brace rods from the top of the head block to side struts towards the back. I also threw in carbon fiber support pieces running alongside the truss rod. That's said not to help that much, but I figured it couldn't hurt. I'll try and post pics of those tomorrow.

Here is a photo of the extra support at the neck block.

That is a beautiful 12 string.

I could only hope that some day I will be able to build one half as nice.

Great job, you should be very happy with it and the reception you got from your client was nice to see.
