As many of you may know, duh Padma no longer post complete build threads, sorry dudes. However me thought you might enjoy seeing these 2 instruments me did do for one of them Andean currenderos.

The first, a charango ~ a small Andean stringed instrument of the lute family which were traditionally made with the shell of the back of an armadillo. Actually this is a Ronroco ~ the larger relative of the charango, essentially a baritone or better still and octave charango would be more like it. Ten strings in pairs with various tunings. Sorry about the poor quality pics...new camera one the way.

23.5 inch string length
upper 9 1/4
lower 12 1/4
carved top and back, violin edge, bwb purfelling
50 year old air dried cedar neck and body
Ayahuasca vine inlayed on top of head stock and on back of neck behind the 1st.
Maple bridge, coco bola strap pins
Brass tailpiece.
Relic oil finish.

The second is my Travel Guitar design. The build thread for this instrument can be found here...

23.5 string length
White cedar body, red cedar neck
Walnut banding.
Custom back strip of walnut, cedar, fir
Pear shaped sound hole, carved and 24k gold leafed rosette.

That's quite an odd ronrocco. Can't say I've seen one like it. Much better than the one's that are shaped like boulders.

Thanks guys...ya me love oil finishes...especially on cedar.

Conventional shape ... well ya sorta...is just that me very seldom post that sort of stuff. The only reason for posting this was because it ain't no copy of anything and its gotts 10 strings on her.

Me is working on 2 arch top parlors ~ little blues machines for me and me lady friend... from the same mold as this charango which me will then probably destroy.
