I like this one.

If you look carefully, there's lutherie happening in the back.

Todd, I wonder if you'd connect with Brooks Jensen's Made of Steel project?

Yeah, I'm with you Todd. B&W almost instantly makes the shot "art". Good looking photos.
And Filippo that's a pretty shaving!

Hey don't be disrespecting the iphone camera! Actually the iphone 5 has a great camera. With an f/2.4 aperature and 8MP it actually produces printable files. It's the reason I don't own a point and shoot digital camera. Obviously it can't compare to a DSLR, but it's a nice convenient way to document work and it's files look great on low res 72 dpi computer monitors. Plus, I can't stand bringing my Nikon into the shop. Dust gets everywhere.

Nice shots people.

Reminds me of my old darkroom days! I loved Tri-X especially in 4 x 5, but so dang expensive in that size, and the camera wasn't real convenient. A dream to print with though. I tried to duplicate here how Tri-X rendered the patina on steel, or cast iron in the case of my old Stanley 151 spokeshave. If this had come from a 4 x 5 negative, the highlights on the spokeshave would have had more of a pearlescent quality.

Here's another. The highlights on the tops of the braces were placed to just kiss the edge of being blown out.

Nice diversion, Todd! I enjoy photography, and even better with B&W lutherie! As we seem to have a wood curls thing going, I'll contribute one of some curls plus toss one in of yours truly trying to see over his bifocals to tame a wild fret.

I love B&W craft photos...and really enjoy shop shots that have that Pan-X/Tri-X look. Would the Rat Pack have been nearly as cool if all those shots would have been in color? Of course not.

Here are a few of mine and a few from shopmates...please post your own...

Obviously not from my shop but I'm sure everyone can enjoy knowing how the DuPont Brothers started out. This is a pic I have hanging in my shop.

Clearly a fake. That wallpaper wasn't available until the 70's. That's the 1970's.

I wouldn't know, I wasn't around in the 1800's, and I'm not a wallpaper expert! :D What I do know, is I saved this pic from a site that has all kinds of historical records and pics of stringed instruments and their builders going back about 600 years. Which site? I can't recall because I've had this pic for about 7 years. Still a cool pic though! ;)

I picked up a Beseler 4 X 5 enlarger last year. For $20 I couldn't bear to walk away from it. I thought I would start shooting film again so I went into a Camera store to buy some 120 film for my Hasselblad. They didn't sell 120 film!
As the quality of digital cameras has improved it is hard to justify the expense of shooting film. Being able to shoot 100's of images for the price of a few electrons has a definite attraction. But I still like film.
