What strap (neck end) button positions are you guys using, if you fit them? Any pictures?
I did like this one, and fitted an extension on the bass side of the neck block to fit it for my last one.
Seems to give a good balance to the guitar, is secure, and doesn't get in the way of the fretting hand.

After reading Frank Ford's pros and cons I decided to use that position also. I like that it sits flat on the body so I can use wooden buttons that screw in for a nice fit. My heels are the pointy type so there are no flat surfaces for wooden buttons that screw in and I don't like the felt washers that hide a poor fit. On some metal buttons I have ground the base nicely to fit but not for wooden ones. I suppose I could make a separate base that conforms to heel but that just makes the button bigger.

I strongly prefer that end of the strap to be tied around the headstock. I can't be the only one? Placing the strap button near the heel is more fatiguing for my shoulder if standing for long periods.

I position mine like this on my builds. I find this position helps pull the guitar towards the body.

Me too. I like that you can move around without the guitar wanting to swing. It's not popular though because most people just don't want to look like John Denver!

I have previously just screwed them into the treble side of the heel, but on the two I am working on right now, I installed 1" cubes of mahogany glued into the corner of the neck block and the bass side of the guitar. It's the Doc Watson strap button location. We'll see how it works out. I know it will be stable. What I don't know is whether I will miss it being on the heel. I doubt it.

See other currently running thread for my comments (about strap buttons and where to shove them....)

I've tried a bunch of locations. In the end, for my guitars, I ended up with the button on the neck heel. What I have learned is that one size does not fit all. Depends on the shape and balance of the guitar.
