It was a very busy weekend in the Expo tent, which is to be expected when you take four 1930's Martins to a bluegrass festival, lol. Next year I'll be sure and put in more time brushing up on my Martin esoterica...

Met tons of nice folks, picked a bunch of bluegrass tunes, ate some pretty bad commissary food, and slept in a cargo van. As much fun as all that was, the highlights were getting to know my new Canadian friends Mark and Damian, makers of Rayco resophonic guitars (which sound fantastic, btw), chatting with our friend John Arnold, meeting Casey Cochran and playing his incredibly beautiful #2 sunburst dread, and of course, spending some quality time with one of my idols, Mr. Wayne Henderson. By the end of the weekend we were like old pals. I'm amazed by his soft-spoken generosity of spirit. Oh, and front row for The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with Jim Lauderdale and Sam Bush.

I'm already looking forward to next year...ImageImageImage

Can't decide if that first person is better as a builder or as a player. One thing for sure he is a gentleman of the first order.
