Does bloodwood and/or padauk work okay for a fingerboard and bridge in terms of stability, workability, glue ability, etc.? ...how about esthetically? …too garish? Iv'e seen cocobolo look nice... |

bloodwood is an excellent wood for fingerboard. It's very hard wood. Esthetically, If you oil it it's garnet or dark-red... at least, in a few weeks ![]() |

oh! and it sands easily and seems to be stable (I had no problems with this wood) |

I think I read somewhere that Greg Smallman has used padauk for classical bridges, to keep the weight down. |

Yes to both woods in both applications. |

Padauk makes a good bridge. Fairly light for it's stiffness. Might be a little prone to cracking, depending on the grain. |

I used bloodwood for a bridge and fingerboard as requested on a commission build and it worked out great. Fred |
