Peter, amazing look. Love the back inlay, the offset end graft and the general aesthetic! Hard to believe you're a newbie :)

I'm sharpening plane blades and ready to start a pair of slope shoulder dreads. Cleaned the shop.

Waiting for lacquer on the last two to dry so I can buff and assemble, that will be another week at least. Lot's of repairs, Re-binding an old Gibson, partial re-finish of a 50's Gretsch and a couple of pick up installs. Meanwhile the next three are underway, got all my rims planed down and ready to bend.

Nope, I think that's my cat. laughing6-hehe

Cool work going on. I love what you're doing, Peter. It's bold and different and looks great.

Clinch - Sweet work! White oak and maple are two woods I hope to try soon.

No guitar fun for me this weekend. I'm stuck with tons of yard work (literally) and painting our guest bedroom. I guess the painting is kind of guitar-related, as once that room is cleaned up I get to turn it into an indoor workspace just for me! bliss

Just glued the bridge on the Ziricote/sinker red ceder 12 fret 00 shown in this thread http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10101&t=38584 I will install the neck and tuning machines tomorrow and should be picking a tune on it by Wednesday if all goes well. It sister build the Ziricote OM is a few days behind but should be strung by next weekend.

Martin - is that sycamore on the left? It is gorgeous! Looks like lacewood...

Rob,
sorry, should have been more clear. That is the sycamore on the left, with the curly Spanish cedar in middle. The sycamore sides look really nice as well, IMO; I've seen a couple of realy nice guitars on this site made with sycamore and can't wait to see how it finishes out. Got all the back and side sets from the Zootman.

Amazing everyone! Fred...love that! You are almost there :)
I sprayed 6 coats of Nitro on an OM today, when our wind finally stopped. I'm in the kitchen rather than the shop this week, sharpening all the planes and chisels in anticipation of starting the next 2.
Filippo, those knobs are wicked cool :)

Cool. I'm sure I could figure something out as long as you wouldn't mind me possibly swiping that idea on a future build?

Simple bridge replacement... but there's a K&K pickup superglued to the bridge plate under the saddle so I can't use normal clamps. Yay vacuum!

I am not Filippo,
but the body seems to be a Flaxwood body,
made out of their propriety composite,
which is polymers and natural fiber,
or spruce and plastic if you will.

I build a caliper so I can measure the thickness on the back, sides and top. Took a trip to Harbor Freight and bought a digital dial caliper and then build a frame for it to fit in. Finished it off with a large melamine top for the wood to sit one. Seems to work just fine so far. I ended up with about twenty dollars in it including the digital caliper bolts, nuts and screws. I had the scrap wood from other projects.

Now I can measure the top, sides and back for my first build.

Been building a workbench/top out of beech tongue and groove floorboards I picked up from a house renovations 2 years ago...

As for dial indicators... all the ones I can find in Taiwan are metric... so is there anyone who is willing to buy a few for me from harbor freight?

I'm so used to inches it's hard for me to think in millimeters...
