Post subject:  Sitka top plates question...

Building a shooting board to plane my tops, Went out to the garage and found one of my book matched sides was kinda bowed like a banana ( end grain to end grain, not length wise ) and the other was still flat. Is that the norm ? Also what's the recommended thickness for a twelve string top ??

Was it the side that was exposed to the air that was bowed? Turn it around, it will likely go back to normal.

If you hang it up it will probably stay bowed, but if you turn it around, it'll move back. When it's normal, put something in front of it and it'll stay good until you use it.

You need better temp/humidity control.
