I am trying to decide what bridge to use. I made a modern style for my OM project and a Pyramid for the 12 fret and now think the modern might look good on the 12 fret slot head. The guitar is not very traditional with the cut away and sound port so I was thinking modern, but can't decide as I also like pyramid bridges. Opinions appreciated.   Fred |

I like the belly bridge. But really, you can't go wrong here. They both look great. |

This really brings home the point that a single element can totally change the aesthetic feel of the whole instrument. Each bridge gives the guitar a completely different look and I like both of them. If it were up to me, I would use the belly bridge. I am surprised by this as I assumed I would prefer the pyramid, but the cutaway swayed me to the belly. The belly bridge is a really nice design. For me it us much sleeker that a standard. That plays well with the overall instrumet in this case. |

I agree with everything Bryan says in that post, ( and I also am a huge pyramid bridge fan) ...but ...aesthetically...in this case the belly bridge works better. Without wishing to stir up a hornet's nest, IMO pyramid bridges would work with a Florentine cutaway, but will never look right with a Venetian cutaway. |

I guess I might have to finish shaping the second belly bridge as it seems many of us have the same feeling on modern. One of the greatest things about this forum is the ability to pose questions like this and get a feeling on what other builders opinions are I did the belly bridge on my last 12 fret that had the armrest bevel and a solid headstock as to me there was nothing traditional about it, but this one could go either way with the slotted headstock. I agree with Todd. I like the look of a pyramid bridge on an instrument that's going for that vintage look but this guitar, while maybe not quite as modern looking as some of your others, is still a modern looking guitar. As such, I vote modern bridge. |

I too like the belly bridge better. I'd like to see a full shot with the headstock with both bridges though......A slot head with a belly bridge might look a little off. |

With slothead I prefer Pyramid. Like Rod mentioned, folks opinions might change if the headstock was shown in the picture. |

I like to make my bridges as light as possible, so I'd definitely go for the belly bridge. |

Slotted headstock means pyramid to me. Flip a coin though. They both look good Fred. |

Go with what you like . I don't think just because it has a slotted head it needs a certain style of bridge. To me the belly looks good because of the curves. Perhaps you could design something a little more of your own taste and give it a go. Either way it looks good! |

With the cutaway I'm all for the belly. You could split the difference as mentioned.

I have to vote for the belly bridge too - just seems to fit. Either way, let us know what you decide and post photos when it's all done. |
