For a rift sawn bridge blank, which grain direction do you use (1 or 2)? Why? |

I use no. 2 grain orientation. Read somewhere it was less likely to break out at the saddle slot. Made sense to me. Max |

After reading that other thread, I'm also starting to wonder if it might be a good idea to saw bridge blanks a little off perpendicular to the grain. Kinda like this... ![]() |

I've repaired quite a few classicals with that particular type of split. |
