Hello, I want to read a bit.... are these two books from Mark French working like Part 1 and Part 2, like the book-sets from Gore and Somogyi, or are they more like Old version and New Version? http://www.amazon.com/Technology-Guitar ... 1461419204 http://www.amazon.com/Engineering-Guita ... y_b_text_y Thank you for any information. Cheers, Alex |

From the table of contents, it looks like there is a fair bit of overlap and there is no construction guidance given I'm really not too sure what the point of either of them is. |

These are textbooks specifically designed for the mechanical engineering technology class MET490G at Purdue university. Mark French teaches the course on engineering quality in manufacturing using the guitar as a model. Each student builds a guitar and conducts quality inspections along the way. Unfortunately the course was cancelled my senior year there, which was a real bummer since I overloaded my previous semesters to give myself extra time during my senior year to take this class. I did get to meet Mark French, and he is a super nice guy. Some of his other projects include helping Taylor develop their expression system (I know there is a wide variety of opinions surrounding this system, but I for one like it), and making a supersonic ping pong ball gun. ![]() |
