I have a few gouges in my top from the corner of my chisel while shaping the braces. None of them are very deep, but I was wondering if I should do anything about them. |

Don't show them to anyone This is something you will learn to do less of. Often it is a sign of a dull chisel , If you can't shave with it , it isn't sharp. |

I have found three best way to solve this problem is to NOT avoid it but rather protect against it. No matter how good you are one day you wil slip do if you have the shims in place to protect your work then no problem. |

I got this tip a few years back, radius the corners of the chisel tip so if you do contact the top it won't dig in. I have a 1" chisel with this done that is used only for brace work. Fred |
