Cool video as are the others. Always learn something from them. UV is definitely cool stuff. I am awaiting the day the prices are where us average folks can afford it.

Thanks Robbie,
So now that we know it's not bullet proof, how hard is it to repair a polyester finish and what are the end results?

Thanks for the compliments everyone.
Repairing a UV cured finish is just like repairing any other reactive type finish. You must sand and recoat the entire area. You can't just touch up areas.
Check out this video on crack repair. In this video there is a cat urethane finish. Notice to repair the finish I must recoat the entire back.

Polyester can be spot repaired with outstanding results. Taylor guitars and their properly trained repair facilities do it often. I do as well. Obviously, as with any finish repair, there are situations where full panel finishing makes more sense.

Joe, you are correct. I wasn't going to go into that side of it cause, as you know, it takes a certain skill level to pull off a spot repair on these type finishes.

It sure does Robbie but I wanted to make sure that anyone that may have "written off" polyester based on the thought that it cannot be spot repaired weren't deterred by that alone. It really is a versatile and incredibly fast finish that when used in a proper and safe environment, can produce a beautiful, thin and durable guitar finish. Of course, I may be a bit biased. :D

I agree Joe. Perhaps one day we should get together and do a video on how to do finish repairs. I am game if you are.
