Anybody know how thick the top and back were on these? I'm building my brother a similar instrument (circle body mandolin built around an old Ditson banjolin neck.) I'm using Macacauba for the back and an extremely stiff Red Spruce top from John Arnold. The Army Navy is the closest thing I have found to what I have in mind. Also, any ideas for the top brace pattern? Maybe this would be a good time to experiment with curved braces. |

Nathan - I have one that I bought some time ago that's all busted up. I paid a few bucks for it so I could take those sorts of measurements, but haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I'll break it out in the next day or so and take some measurements for you. |

Hey Nathan - The Parlor in Knoxville has a few for sale if you care to take a look at one. http://www.theparlorknoxville.com/mandolins. I'm friends with the owner...I can run my Mag-ic probe on it next time I'm over there. I'm curious how these are built as well. |
