Spent the weekend getting a couple of guitars close to stringing up. Here is a black locust bridge being glued on the Pure Michigan Pine Top:

Yes Gil it is walnut, but the back is three piece with a maple center wedge.

I’d apologize for the misleading title, but I couldn’t resist! I have one more guitar that is supposed to be ready by the first of the year, but if Gil’s forecast holds, I’m going to have a hard time getting the HHG to gel for the bridge laughing6-hehe

Whats the neck, fretboard woods? Are you going for an all American woods guitar?

Gil, Not only all American, but all Michigan! My customer wanted locally harvested Michigan woods, so the woods used are walnut, maple, white pine, silver spruce, and black locust, all grown and harvested in Michigan. The neck is five piece using walnut and maple. The bridge and fingerboard are fumed black locust. We used Petoskey stone, a local fossilized coral, for the rosette and fingerboard inlays. The build itself was rather straightforward. The difficulty was in chasing down suitable woods.

Looks amazing Ken. It's amazing how long those final steps take compared to the actual construction to that point isn't it.

That's awesome! I hope you will post more pics when it's done. I have ideas for an all American instrument, and have all the woods, not down to my state though, that's really cool you are able to get so local.

Thanks Mark. Hey if you want to see your walnut on a finished guitar, we should get together Wednesday or Thursday evening. I used your walnut on the sides and the neck. I also used your silver spruce to brace the top. I am out of town after Friday, and then the guitar will be delivered to my customer. I am hoping to get it back in a couple of months to do a final tweak to the action and see how the sound has come around, but the buyer is fairly adept at basic guitar setup, so it may be awhile until I see it again.

Gil, I'll try to post a few more pictures in a week or two.

Looking good Ken, the best part of finishing a guitar is you can start another.
