I doubt that it's the fault of Hide glue.

How do you properly care for a guitar to keep the bridge from lifting?

don't expose it to excessive heat....ie direct sun, in a car, near a space heater or fireplace or woodstove, etcetera

I'm far from a glue expert so everyone ingest a grain of salt now. I don't see how tite bond is better than hide in preventing this. Whatever cause the hide to fail would certainly defeat tite bond and the TB would be a more difficult repair. No?

That has been disproven by user experimentation.

Hey Chris,
i'd be glad to help out if your still looking for someone. I might be a little further away than your customer wants to drive, though. I'm in Oceanside, which is at the northern part of San Diego County. - about 1 1/2 hrs from downtown L.A.
Feel free to check out my website - www.joshwilliamsguitars.com
In the Gallery I have a 'repairs' tab. Feel free to look at some of the examples there, too.

Thanks,
Josh
