OK, now it is time to glue on my wood binding. I plan to use Titebond, as with most things on this build. But would Elmers white glue be a better choice? And, should I do anything to the channel before gluing? I am wondering if it is worthwhile to seal it with shellac first. |

I wouldn't shellac it if you plan to use wood glue.... |

Titebond works great. No shellac. You want clean wood surfaces for glue up. Make sure your shop is at 40-45% RH, your binding is bent to shape as close as possible without kinks, several strips of binding tape ripped up and ready to go, and just go for it! |

+1 for titebond orig. You remembered to knock off the inside corner of the binding, right? |

Ah, Dave beat me to it. Knock down (round out) that inner binding edge. Only use shellac if you're going the CA route. Good luck! |

Yep, already took down the inside corner of the binding. I will do a bit of fine tuning tomorrow since Iv'e figured out how to bend the stuff. Can't wait to see how it turns out! |

Have you done a dry fit yet? Put the bindings on with no glue that is. You may find some places that need to worked on. Mike |

One piece was. well, I found a piece of leftover broken binding long enough to remake that one. And another I was doing some fine tuning to, well it broke on me in another place. But I think i have it close enough to right (by checking dry fit) that I can glue it back together before I glue it in the channel. It was a clean break, and the curve was pretty much dead on when it snapped. Think that might work? i figure the rest of the broken pieces I'll make a scarf joint and glue them together on the guitar. Any other suggestions for the best way to handle multi-piece? |
