On another forum someone said they had a classical guitar with EVO frets. Apparently the EVO was causing excess wear on the strings. I wonder if anyone frets classicals with EVO or has any info on excessive string wear using this wire. I use it for SS and think it's tops.

I've used it twice on nylon string guitars and really like it. I don't play enough to know it if causes excessive wear on the strings, the strings get old far before they wear out!

I really think that it depends upon the player. Some people change strings weekly! Some play really hard, etc..

Properly played, I can't imagine why EVO wire would damage strings, if they are polished up as they should be.

no problems with using them. I play the heck out of a classical set up with them and they don't wear strings out any sooner than any other fret.

I've used the EVO wire on a good few classicals now. I've experienced no difference in string wear compared to nickel-silver frets. Some pics here.

My first thoughts also were that the type of material did not matter near as much as the polishing of the frets. Thanks folks.

Exactly, I read that thread, surface finish is the factor not the alloy.
