Post subject:  Finally...Sound Clips

Most folks gave up long ago asking me to post a sound clip.
Something about old dogs and new tricks...
But finally we have some video sound clips up on our site for all but one model. And hopefully that will be done in the near futurre.
Steve DeVries did our playing, and it was recorded at Acoustic Pro Musician.
One take, no editing, etc... but you can get an idea of the sound.
You will have to go to each model, and then you should find a link for the clips under each model.
Thanks for listening,

Steve

Thanks Jim! And that confirms that they can be opened by someone other than myself...always good to know!

Those are great! I don't know if Steve DeVries always smiles they way he does when playing your guitars but it sure looked like he kept saying to himself "Dang these are Nice!"

I will never forget sitting in the Hotel Room the night you and Family were playing together at Healdsburg (2009) and remembering your guitars as the best sounding at show for me.

Dang those sound great!

Steve,

Your guitars make me want to build better.

Wow, guys, what encouraging comments...many thanks.
I know what you mean about Steve's countenance, he seems to utterly enjoy playing.
What I didn't know was that he was just a few weeks away from cancer surgery. (Prostate)
He's recovering now; he's ok--but sore. I'm sure he would appreciate your prayers!

Those recordings certainly add to the web site...and I think audio clips can set a web site apart from others....if done well. The better the recordings the better the impact. These are pretty good. Those Dutchmen can play, eh?

I love the way the gallery is laid out...very simple access...nice. But I found that I wanted one more layer. To be able to click on the larger image to the left and bring up a full screen, high resolution photo of that image would be more satisfying. I want to jump into those guitars but I can't fit through the little portal. :)

Thanks, Stuart. You aren't the first to ask for larger pics, and perhaps we can do that.
I say perhaps because some of those pics are stretched out to their max already.
Ah well, it's just more time in the studio!

Thanks again, and to answer your Q., yes those Dutch boys can play--about as well as they paint!

I listened to that OM clip twice. Each time I got butterflies in my stomache. . . It almost makes me want to stop trying to make guitars.

Very nice, I liked in this order the SJ (thats one badass guitar) CS, P-1 & OM.

Thank you gents for the kind remarks.
It is SO interesting to me that Bryan and Clinchriver have opposite "druthers".
It is increasingly difficult trying to predict what different people will enjoy. I suppose it works out well that way.
Something for everyone...

Matt, not even Bob has this varied a collection, right? (But wait a bit, he's working on it.)

Thanks again guys,

Steve

It IS really interesting, my list is exactly opposite of clinchriver's. . . That is one of the best things about guitars. Something for everyone indeed.

Oh, great! Thanks Steve.....I was supposed to be working on my instruments tonight, but got sucked into listening (several times over) to your guitars being played by a fantastic guitarist....and don't get me started about the video and sound quality.....dang!......great job sir!! Oh, and your guitars aren't too shabby either :D [:Y:] [clap] [:Y:] [clap] [:Y:]
Looking forward to seeing/hearing the finger style one too....

Wow Steve,
The OM and the CS blew my sox off. Thats the type of guitars I want to build and if they sound anything near that quality I will feel like walking on water.

Sounds great! How was/were the microphone/s situated?

Steve, really nice to hear your guitars played, good player by the way. I particularly like the model that you named after me, the CS, (I'm honoured by the way) but did you have to use a picture of a bursted one on the site!

Colin ;)

Post subject:  Re: Finally...Sound Clips

Again, accept my thanks for your very kind remarks.

Dave, I'm sure you've found that sometimes the most efficient thing we can do is leave the shop and get inspired. (Hope you didn't lose too much time though...)

Joe, the truth is NO guitar sounds that good. What you've got there is a good player and good microphones!

Speaking of which: Pat, those mics are off camera, about five feet away from the player, spaced about 6 feet apart, and pointed toward the instrument. I've never seen an arrangement like that, and was dubious about the result...until I heard the playback! The thought, no doubt, was to showcase the instrument with little or no clutter in the foreground. If you look closely at the edges of a couple of those clips, you will see one of the mics...which was my fault.

Colin, glad you caught the honorific! Yes, it is a risky move to put a sunburst guitar up front as your poster child, but it was the only one available when the pics were needed, so....

Martin, what a thought, a CD of our different models. Hmm... How would you like a job as director of marketing? :D

Thanks again guys,

Steve

Well I'd be happy with a darn ball cap or tee shirt. That's just a great all around web site Stephen. Easy to get around and shows an excellent representation of your outstanding work. And not a dred in sight. I'm OK with that. A bold and daring move no doubt. Sound clips are well done and I hope they help sales.

All The Best,
Danny

Fantastic site, great guitars... The sound clips are very nice. I'm especially impressed by the Parlor. Amazing sound from that little guitar. It looks and sounds beautiful. Nice!

Post subject:  Re: Finally...Sound Clips

Jim & Jim, thanks guys.
Of course I'm pleased you like the Parlor; it's not that easy "warming" them up.
The sinker redwood top helps a lot with that, and I suspect the very light double X bracing contributes as well.
(Oh, and a fine player can't be ruled out of the equation, for sure.)

Thanks,

Steve
