Shipping this one tomorrow. Carpathian Spruce top, Maple B/S. The bridge is a little smaller belly bridge, which I'm quite fond of. Seems to focus and enhance exactly what the maple does in throwing sound to the back of the room. I'm absolutely fanatical about how the sunburst and rosette turned out. Overall, I'm not real happy with the tone when I'm playing it. That being said, I've heard that each guitarist should have two guitars... one that they enjoy and one that their audience enjoys. Based on what I hear from across the room, I'm confident that my client is going to have the latter of the two. This thing REALLY cuts through and sounds great on the other side of the guitar. This is true of the other maples I've built as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dave |

That's a real beauty. Great looking sunburst! I like the photo with the light shining through the sound port....you should add a light to get that effect all the time |

a friend of mine has an all maple Ibanez steel string acoustic from the mid '70s(even the fretboard!)....it is quite trebley and a bit thin sounding to the player, but yes it really projects. for solo/unamplified performance i kinda lean towards it being more important for the instrument to inspire the player and sound great to the player....cuz if the player is having a great time, then it will naturally follow that the audience does, even if the sound that reaches them may not be as loud or great as it could otherwise be. very beautiful axe there ! |
